When families who qualify for free school meals do not claim them, both the family and school miss out on further funding which would benefit many pupils in school. To find out more about this, please read this letter from the Head Teacher.
To check whether you qualify, please view this useful factsheet issued by Nottinghamshire County Council.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS - Biometrics and Security
At Arnold Hill Academy we use a biometric recognition system for school meals, the benefits for students include:
- Entitlement to free school meals is anonymous
- Students do not have to remember to bring dinner money, or carry cash around the academy
Biometric information is stored securely by the academy in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and cannot be used by any other source for the purpose of identification. The academy will not share this information with anyone else, and will not unlawfully disclose it to any other person.
As part of our catering system, we currently record a biometric measurement taken from a finger. The system uses an image of the fingerprint to create a mathematical algorithm and then disregards the fingerprint, only the numbers remain and these cannot be converted back into fingerprint images.
Please note that when your child leaves the academy, or if for some reason they cease to use the biometric system, their data will be permanently deleted.
Should you agree to your child using this method, it is important that you return a signed consent form to the academy.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to Arnold Hill Academy. If we receive a request to opt-out of the system from a person with parental responsibility, that instruction will take priority and any other request will be overridden.
You can view a letter explaining the system in more detail below.
At Arnold Hill we use Scopay for the payment of school lunches. Scopay is a cashless catering system that allows parents to top up their child's school lunch money account online. Students are then able to buy food in the school canteen using the money in their account. The system is secure, convenient and lets parents know that money has been spent as they intended.
With the exception of American Express, all major debit and credit cards are accepted. All card payments are secure and adhere to the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Your card statement will show a payment has been made to Arnold Hill Academy.
All new parents are sent a letter that includes details of how to register. If the letter gets lost, parents can contact the school office for registration details. More information, including a user guide is available from the Scopay website.
Please be aware that if you have not granted permission for your child to use the current fingerprint system for lunches, they will not be able to use this function with Scopay.
Students will be able to load their accounts with money via cash machines in the canteen and opposite A Block Sports Hall. These units will accept the new £5 notes and £1 coins from 5th June 2017.
